We got trouble with a capital T and that rhymes with C and that stands for Clay.
Yep, Mike ran into the clay. We knew it was there - how could we not after all these years? - but he didn't. We didn't think to tell him and he didn't think to ask. The clay combined with all the rain to make incredibly heavy muck. When they were turning the dingo, it mired down into the clay to the point that the tread slipped off its track! They lost an hour getting it back on. Then, even though they were under the weight limit of the trailer being used to haul stuff away, its hydraulic system busted (and of course the water makes everything so heavy they can't load as much into a trailer - which means more trips and hence more time). Mike tried 3 places, and no one had another trailer for rent. To top it all off, it turns out you have to pound fill into the clay to stabilize it before putting down the fabric barrier and then the regular fill and such. So they're several hours behind schedule. Oh, well, what are you going to do?
But today looks to be a lovely day - sunny and warm for once! Wish I could be there to see everything happening. Tonight Joe and I will go get the stepping stones for the main garden. These are small enough for us to handle!
