Of course, this doesn't mean the work is done. Oh, no. We have to clean off the patio, and then seal it. This will not only protect it and make it easier to clean, it makes it darker (think getting a stone wet and you'll know what I mean), which makes it a much closer match to the colors of the house. Not sure when we'll get to that - hope it's soon. But the forecast of hot humid weather isn't going to make that easy... We won't seed until that's done, so we don't kill any seedlings with the chemicals. Not to mention that July is about the worst time here to seed grass... I don't want to wait too long, though, or the weeds will move in!
We did get the flowers planted. I don't have a great picture (it was too late in the evening), but this gives you an idea.
I took it from right next to the fence - otherwise the contrast between sun and shade was too much to see half the garden!
Here's the other side - the rose is right at the corner of the shed. You can see our fountain, albeit not yet installed. Joe started working getting the outlets wired, but isn't yet done.
The next big thing is the pergola. If it would ever come in, we'd be in good shape. It's been backordered since we ordered, which we knew going in. Original date: June 30. Then arrival at the warehouse (NOT to us) was announced for July 6. Here it is the 13th, and now we're told they have no idea. Grrr. Since the patio faces west, it's darned hot in the afternoons. We need the pergola to make it truly useful. Our little lilac tree makes a surprising difference, but not nearly enough for a stinkin' hot day. We certainly enjoy it in the mornings!
